Buzzing Success at the 48th Apimondia in Chile

The 48th Apimondia, a global congress dedicated to the world of bees and beekeeping, recently took place in the beautiful country of Chile, Santiago September 4th – 8th, 2023. This buzzing event brought together bee enthusiasts, experts, and researchers from around the globe to share knowledge, experiences, and innovations in the field.

 

 

With a jam-packed schedule, the 48th Apimondia featured a myriad of articles, presentations, and discussions, making it a hive of information for attendees. The diverse range of topics covered ensured that everyone, from seasoned professionals to curious newcomers, found something of interest. The collective efforts of the global beekeeping community were evident as they explored ways to address the challenges facing bees and promote sustainable apiculture practices.

 

One standout presentation came from Dr. Fani Hatjina, the coordinator of SafeAgroΒee, who unlighted the knowledge of the audience with The SafeAgroBee results on climatic projections for the future, especially in Greece and Algeria, two of the countries participating in SafeAgroBee project. Of course the climatologist Prof. Konstantia Tolika, who is collaborating with us in this project works on all experimental sites and participating countries.

However SafeAgroBee project had an outstanding present in this APIMONDIA, as a number of posters were also presented by Janez Prešern, Bojan Stipešević and Janja Filipi highlighting the importance of collaborative efforts in ensuring the well-being of bees and the future of beekeeping.

 

 

As the curtains closed on the 48th Apimondia in Chile, the beekeeping community eagerly looks forward to the next edition. The Scandinavian Apimondia promising another opportunity for bee enthusiasts to come together, learn, and exchange ideas.

In addition, heartfelt congratulations are in order for Tanzania, as they have been selected to host the 50th Apimondia. This milestone event is a testament to the global recognition of Tanzania’s commitment to beekeeping and conservation.
