This in person workshop was a continuation of the online training on the same methods. Dr. Marin Kovacic had performed an online training on SMR and recapping behaviour of bees, back in October 2022.

 

 

All colleagues participated had the basic theoretical level of knowledge on the methods and we use the time of most of this day on practical exercise.

In between of the training we also discussed the SafeAgroBee work in progress and we had an excellent presentation by Dr. Ralph Büchler – on Varroa resistance traits.

Some of partner attended online and the discussions were very active!

 

 

It is clear form previous studies, as well as from ongoing ones, that he 2 traits SafeAgroBee consortium is trained to are 2 of the most important ones for monitoring the resistance of bee on Varroa.

Soon, the project will have its own results to these traits (from Croatia and Greece).

 

 

The group also visited the apiary site and the infrastructures of Dr. Marin Kovacic’s family breeding farm in order to get an ide of a commercial breeding station in Croatia.
