Today everyone is facing global threats known as climate change (CC). The main goal of the conference was to enhance the exchange and dissemination of knowledge, experience, ideas and research
results in the scope of agriculture under the lights of the unstoppable climate changes of which we are witnesses. This conference also wishe to establish better and stronger networks between scientists from universities/research institutes and specialists from industry, trade or other related activities.
The main theme of the 1st International Scientific Conference „Agricultural
Challenges to Climate Change“ was “The role and status of modern agriculture in climate change – innovative and sustainable approaches”.
The conference was organised under the auspices of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Croatia,
Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Croatia
Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of the Republic of Croatia.
Our partners form Faculty of Agrobiotehnical Sciences, University of J.J. Strossmayer in Osijek, Bojan Stipešević, Bojana Brozović, Zlatko Puškadija, Marin Kovačić and Karolina Tucak were part of this conference and invited SafeAgroBee to participate.
Dr. Fani Hatjina, the Coordinator of SafeAgroBee project has a plenary presentation on the main goals of the project and the challenges beekeepers are facing in order to ensure sustainability of Apiculture in the whole World, and specifically to Mediterranean basin.
Prof. Zlatko Puškadija, also presented the work under progress on using digital scales and precision Apiculture tools to monitor the performance and the changes of honey bee colonies.
We also had a tour around the Faculty, and met with other colleagues. The last day of the conference we also had the opportunity to participate in an even organised by another European project the “BeeConSel”, which deals with breeding and mating methods of honey bees. Overall the experience was just great! Meeting old friends and new collaborators is not only joy but also productive!
